Let’s Dance

Let’s Dance

Every now and then, you just have to dance. Tonight was one of those occasions. We ate dinner and, in a “never really happens” moment, I had made chocolate chip cookies for dessert. (OK, they were out of a package so I didn’t really “make” them as much as I heated them, but they were good all the same). I guess the sugar rush kicked in and before I knew it Brittany was literally standing on her chair dancing. I…

That good ‘ole Baylor Line…

That good ‘ole Baylor Line…

One of my favorite moments at the game yesterday came after almost all the Baylor players had walked off the field. I say “almost” because there was one, #21, sophomore Jordan Lake, who remained. The Bears had lost the game 45-21. They had, at one point, been tied 14-14 with just minutes before the half and they played a good game, they were just playing against a great team. I’m sure the thing a player most wants to do after…

What a beautiful day for a football game! Some friends offered us tickets to go see Baylor play the University of Texas in Austin today. I had never been to a game there and it was truly a sight to behold. We did not see a single UT fan there that was not wearing burnt orange or some kind of Longhorn paraphernalia. I remarked that it was so different from Baylor where we were just making sure we had a…

Our Next President

Our Next President

I wondered aloud today who might win the election tonight and Jacob said….”ahh, I hope it’s not me!” I said “do you think it could be you?” and he said “well, it’ll probably be someone from Pre-k.” It was an honor and a privilege today to take Jacob and the girls to the voting booth to cast a vote and teach them more about our democratic process. (So you know, it went much better than 4 years ago when Jacob…

Rights and Responsibilities

Rights and Responsibilities

When I was in middle school I wrote a paper called “Rights and Responsibilities in a Democratic Society.” My friend Sharon doesn’t remember this, but she helped me with it one week during church. I wanted to do well on it because it was something I really believed in. Somehow that paper won second place in a contest. I think the only thing I got was my name read at a school assembly (first place got to read the paper…

Today’s zinger

Today’s zinger

O.K., actually there were 2 zingers today. Not trying to give Jacob a lot of press, but he just keeps tossing out the memorable lines. Our whole family went to see High School Musical 3 today. Afterwards I was telling everyone that my favorite line in the whole movie was….”when I look at you, my heart enjoys the view.” After I said that Jacob said….”well, it’s true you know.” I asked “what is true?” He said “when I look at…

Best costume…

I think this was one of my happiest Halloweens ever. I know it was Jacob’s because every house he (Batman) ran to, he would leave the house yelling…”this is the best Halloween EVER!” It was so fun to see them all having such a good time. Halloween falling on a Friday night made it more relaxed and it was fun to be able to trick or treat without having a flashlight for a big part of the night. But the…
