“Feel Good” Friday

“Feel Good” Friday

I realize that if you haven’t seen this yet you may have been under a rock this week or at least not watching TV or surfing the internet. So if you are one of those TWO people in America, then please take a look at this video. Because it just makes you feel good. Actually it gave me chills. All 15 times I’ve watched it. And there is certainly a lesson to be learned about judging others. But mostly it…

Darla Stories… 9-1-1 edition, Dallas

Darla Stories… 9-1-1 edition, Dallas

As I mentioned last week, I have had some experience with calling 9-1-1. We lived in Dallas for the first two years we were married. And it just so happens that I was in need of the 9-1-1 services while we were there. We lived in a great complex near some of our best couple friends. It was across the street from a canal and we had a great view of the water. We took lots of after dinner strolls…

One small step for man…

One small step for man…

ONE GIANT LEAP FOR JACOB. Jacob has been “button averse” since he was old enough to let us know of his disdain for any type of button. He cried and cried anytime we put on his church clothes as a very young baby. I wondered aloud how he knew they were church clothes. One Sunday, when he was finally old enough to speak with multiple words, he told me (through tears) that he didn’t want to wear buttons. I asked…

Project Macaroni Penguin

Project Macaroni Penguin

There are times when things just work out. This weekend was one of them. It was as if the crafting gods smiled upon me and said….”your dad is coming….he’ll coordinate and supervise the macaroni penguin” project. Which, mind you, was due in just three short days. This is the project, if you remember, that Bill said was “all mine.” I knew my dad was up to the challenge. This is the same man who singlehandedly crafted my pledge book for…

A good time was had by all!

A good time was had by all!

It was a quick and busy weekend as we celebrated the Easter holiday. The weekend included Jacob’s baseball game – please note the “slide” into home plate. Maybe this is commonplace, but every single boy slides to home every single time…whether they need to or not. They claim it’s to “get their pants dirty.” (which I’m not sure white pants for the rookie league was such a good idea anyway, but they didn’t ask me.) I just think this is…

HE IS RISEN!!!

HE IS RISEN!!!

“Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb and saw two angels in white seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot. They asked her, “Woman, why are you crying?” “They have taken my Lord away,” she said, “and I don’t know where they have put him.” At this, she turned around and saw JESUS STANDING THERE.” He is RISEN indeed! Alleluia! SHARE

Good Friday

Good Friday

We’re excited around here as we anticipate my parents coming to spend the Easter weekend with us! Jacob asked me a few weeks ago: “Mom, does Jesus die on the cross every year so that we can have Easter?” And I explained to him that no, once was enough. He died one time and it covered all our sins. And by only believing in Him, we can have eternal life. And that makes me want to shout “Hallelujah”! One of…

One shining moment…

One shining moment…

Bill and I love the NCAA Basketball tournament. When we first began dating Bill came over to my apartment in Waco to watch the final game….and I acted like I was really interested. But through the years I have come to really enjoy watching game after game after game. Several years later…March Madness 1996, I went into labor with Caroline during one of the games. There was a moment I thought we might have to see the outcome before heading…

Everyone loves a parade…

Everyone loves a parade…

Especially when you’re in it. And last Friday Jacob “drove” his car in the Rummel Creek Elementary Pre-K Art Car Parade. A very big deal around these parts – especially for the 5 and under crowd. The parents kids design and decorate these cars and then the children “drive” along the parade route. You’d be amazed at some of the cars…ours had working headlights (my dads idea) but one girl even had a working horn. Pretty slick. But here is…
