Little Adieu about everything …

Little Adieu about everything …

This post is just about this, that and the other and nothing really. Except for some fun things happened today. First, McDonalds regional office called today and said they were shipping me some Arch cards to hand out in airports during the holidays.  I cannot wait for my children to help me do this and experience the joy of telling someone … especially a soldier, thanks. Second, both girls went to GAP today at our elementary school.  GAP stands for…

You learn something new everyday …

You learn something new everyday …

I was reading bigmama’s blog today and she wrote about how she went to her daughter’s Veteran’s Day program at school yesterday.  She described how moving it was to watch and how two of the students folded up the American flag like they do at a military funeral and, as they made each fold, they told what each fold symbolized. I never knew that each fold meant something … and on the off chance that you didn’t either, I am…

A Coke and a Smile (and a prayer wouldn’t hurt either) …

A Coke and a Smile (and a prayer wouldn’t hurt either) …

Last week, as one of Savannah’s homework assignments, she wrote letters to veterans to be given to them on Veterans Day.  One of my favorite things was that she signed the letters … “Love, (your new best friend) Savannah.   And I was thinking that those words would surely make a soldier smile.  Everybody wants a best friend and knowing that a little girl a long way away thinks you are “best friend” worthy seems like it would be pretty…

A stitch in time …

A stitch in time …

Or perhaps 13 stitches. And I was having such a good afternoon.  I had cleaned the kitchen, baked some cookies (the frozen kind I bought from a high school band member – don’t think I’ve gone all crazy and homemade or anything), had laundry going and was enjoying waiting on my kids coming home from school. When I heard the bus I went outside and watched the kids get off the bus.  Jacob got off and the first thing he…

Really and truly “home for the holidays” ….

Really and truly “home for the holidays” ….

How fun was it for me to be able to really and truly go HOME for the “Home for the Holidays” event?   A lot of fun, I tell you.  A whole lot of fun.  It was a great weekend, the only bummer was that I brought home a bad cold with me as a souvenir. It was fun because I got to see my niece.  Darling, darling neice Addison.  She calls me Aunt La La and I’m pretty sure there…

I Love Little Rock!

I Love Little Rock!

Just a quick note… I’m home!!! I “get to” speak tomorrow at Geyer Springs Baptist Holiday Brunch.  Can’t wait!  If you read this before, please pray that God will speak through me. It is a total treat to be in Arkansas.  My sister and I jogged today, lunch with a friend, dinner with the family … and coffee later with another friend. It’s really fun to be home and be a daughter and not a mother at the same time. …

Middle School Madness – is this a Darla story?

Middle School Madness – is this a Darla story?

OK, so two things you don’t want to happen to you in middle school.   1.  Your mom coming around much.2.  Your mom embarrassing you. I did both today. And I laughed and I laughed and I laughed. Today was the day to proof the 8th grade yearbook ads at the middle school.  I went up to the school office, signed in and went to the 2nd floor yearbook room.  Just as I finished proofing our ad, the bell rang and…

Midland’s on my mind …

Midland’s on my mind …

I wanted to share a few pictures from Midland … mostly so you could see what fun we had!  I miss my Midland friends so much!  You’ll see a few of them here, but somehow I got out of town without getting a picture with Pam, my chauffeur extraordinaire for the weekend.  Although Pam is her name, I will forever call her sister, because it’s almost like we were separated at birth.  She was so fun, so patient and so…

Sports R Us …

Sports R Us …

We’ve been quite busy around here this fall. Caroline played volleyball with her school (and won their end of season tournament!): Savannah is playing soccer (currently ranked number 1 in their league/undefeated!): I’ve mentioned that Jacob was playing football, but what I might not have said was that he was playing soccer too.  Crazy, I know, but it was church league and all his buddies played. Only one practice a week so I counted it as a play date. 🙂…

It’s like it was meant to be…

It’s like it was meant to be…

As most of you know … I’m a big fan of candy corn.  In fact, I’m glad today is October 31 because this candy cornucopia lifestyle I’ve been living needs to come to a stop.  One friend said I was suffering from candy cornnibalism.  Who knows… I really do like them. In the past few weeks I’ve posted a few candy corn treat recipes on here and facebook.  Posted is a relative term seeing how I never actually made the…
