Burgers anyone...

Here’s the deal.

I love facebook. I think it’s fun.

I think it’s hip and cool.

The best part of the hip and cool thing is that my 60-something mom is the one who invited me to join and “be her friend.” When I accepted she began giving me facebook “tips” and was the first person to instant message me on facebook. How she learned all this, I don’t know. She claims she fell into facebook by accident….someone invited her, she had a page and before she knew it she was spending lots of time with her facebook friends.

So far on facebook, I have caught up with friends I haven’t seen since high school, exchanged messages with some family members I haven’t seen in years, told a friend from my high school youth group that to this day I can’t see a shower cap without laughing about the time she got on the church bus wearing one and acting like a cafeteria lady, joined a few groups (like for example….“moms who are such dorks they have profiles on facebook”), uploaded my first album of Christmas pics for my friends to see, and by golly…sometimes I just like to know there is someone out there besides me who is doing laundry.

Bill says I’m addicted. Just because I needed to “real quick” let everyone know we were on our way to a basketball game when we were already running a little behind to that game doesn’t necessarily mean I’m addicted….or well, maybe just a little bit.

I read in the paper the other day that “Linkedin” is the networking site for business people, “Facebook” is for the backyard barbeque crowd and “Myspace” is more the bar scene.

So if you haven’t made your way to facebook yet, here’s what I say…

“Grab a burger and come join the fun!”
